VIDEO: Cops appears to tell cyclist he doesn't care about bike lanes

Description: A video posted on YouTube appears to show a state police officer saying that the police department doesn't care about bike lanes. The cyclist says he had been riding over the Longfellow bridge on Tuesday when he noticed a state police SUV blocking a bike lane. When the cyclist approached a trooper about it, he didn't get the response he was expecting. "We don't really care about these bike lanes," an unidentified trooper can be heard saying in the video. "It's pretty much the locals. This bridge is state." The cyclist continues to explain the issue to the trooper and appears to be brushed off. State Police released a statement on the video, saying that the troopers statements regarding bike lanes and cyclists are wrong. "Contrary to the tone and content of those statements, the State Police are concerned with, and have a responsibility to protect, the safety of bicyclists." State Police said that they reminded the department of the rights and responsibilities of cyclists and the proper way to respond to concerns raised by community members.
