Video MBTA tried to hide shows transit police officer beating man
Description: Video MBTA tried to hide shows transit police officer beating man A video was released Thursday allegedly showing an MBTA officer beating a man at a train station. After the video surfaced allegedly showing the transit officer assaulting the man at the Park Street station last year. A lawyer for the alleged victim says the video shows Transit Officer Sean Conway stopping Anthony Ferrier from falling off the platform, but then Ferrier is attacked. Ferrier's attorney is also accusing the MBTA of trying to cover up the incident by releasing only the beginning of the video last year. In a statement, the MBTA says that's just not true, and that their review concluded that Conway acted appropriately. "Although we respect Attorney Friedman's right to his opinion we disagree with his assessment of the incident in its totality. Detective Conway's quick and decisive actions saved a man's life. After careful review of the incident by our Use of Force Committee it was concluded Detective Conway acted appropriately. Detective Conway documented his actions via a Use of Force report and the implication the Transit Police or the MBTA attempted to mislead or deceive the public is simply incorrect," the statement read. "Based on potential and/or pending litigation on this matter it would be inappropriate for us to comment further. Take note, Detective Conway is a 13 year veteran of the Department who is held in high regard for his professionalism and work ethic."Views:
